Optical Subassemblies has a policy of not discriminating in its employment based upon race, gender, religion, marital status, age and species. Our feeling is simply that employees should be chosen based solely upon their capabilities. As such, our inspection department is comprised of two cocker spaniels.
Sachie
on the left, is an inspector in our production department. During
critical assembly operations she sits attentively on her chair and grumbles
if an incorrect operation takes place. Recently, she pointed out
that the optical elements in a lens assembly were being installed in an
incorrect order. The lenses were disassembled and reassembled in
the correct order. She signalled that they passed inspection by napping
on the floor. Sadie on the right works to control the mosquito population
by regularly spritzing the area with citronella from her bark collar.
When not at work, Sachie and Sadie reside with Joel and Faith.
Riley
is in charge of sanitation and employee physical fitness. Prior to
his arrival, employees would leave remnants of lunch in their garbage cans
which would result in unsanitary conditions. He has instituted a
policy of frequent inspections which has corrected this problem.
To combat the sedentary life style frequently found in engineering groups,
employees are encouraged to participate in light physical activity such
as fetch. When not at work, Riley spends time with Linda and her
family.
